Call Parking
Call park is a feature that allows a person to place a call to a 'parking bay' enabling a coworker to retrieve the call from an alternate phone.
In the example below the parking bay has been set against 3106341788. A colleague has set her BLF key to monitor
We also support using a presence (or BLF) to simplify the process of retrieving parked calls.
There are two ways of using Call Parking: Park a call and send it to a Specific Bay or Park a call and send it to the next Available Bay.
First, let's set up Call Parking on our CloudPBX:
How to set up Call Parking
-
Log into your Account.
-
Select Switchboard.
-
Select your number.
-
Select Advanced.
-
Go to Call Parking.
-
Add how many Parking slots you'd like to have, e.g 10.
-
Add the Parking Time, e.g 10 sec.
-
Set up the Return Call to a specific number or to the number that parked the call.
-
The group goes by default.
-
Click Save to update your settings.
- First extension: Here is where you set the number in which the BAY will start. Our function will take the specific BAY in the park bay, or it will automatically send it to the next available one, depending on what you would like to configure on your handset.
- Parking slots: You can determine the number of slots following the First extension (e.g. setting to 10 slots provides 700-709).
- Parking time: Number of seconds a call can be held in the park.
- Return to call: Send the call to the original extension or set Call Forward and select a number.
Now that you have set up the Call Parking feature, choose one of the two options to configure on your handset to park and retrieve calls.
Park a call and send it to a Specific Bay
One of the options we have to set up Call Parking is when you park a call to be taken on a specific park bay.
After setting up the Call Parking on our Cloud PBX, let's configure the Dsskey on your Handset:
Most handsets are accessed via IP e.g 192.168.1.101, you should be able to find the IP from your handset by accessing their Menu > Status. Once you have the IP, copy it and paste it on your browser, then a login page should come up with Username/Password e.g. below:
- The default Username and Password is admin/admin.
- After accessing it, find the feature called Dsskeys, so you can start configuring the Park and Specific Bay to pick the parked call on your Handset.
- Click on Confirm to update settings.
- Now, find the feature called Features, go to Transfer and set up Transfer Mode via Dsskey > Blind Transfer.
- Click on Confirm to update settings.
You are all set with your Dsskey on your Handset configuration. Now, learn how to park and retrieve calls.
How to Park and Retrieve calls - Specific Bay
- To park the call and send it specifically for Bay 2, press BFL Bay 2 on your handset or dial *1702. (NB – the Parking Attendant will confirm your parking slot).
- To retrieve the call from Bay 2, press BFL Bay 2 on your handset or dial *1702.
Park a call and send it to the next Available Bay
Another option we have to set up Call Parking is when you park a call to be taken automatically for the next available park bay.
After setting up the Call Parking on our Cloud PBX, let's configure the Dsskey on your Handset.
Configuring Dsskey on your Handset
Most handsets are accessed via IP e.g 192.168.1.101, you should be able to find the IP from your handset by accessing their Menu > Status. Once you have the IP, copy it and paste it on your browser, then a login page should come up with Username/Password e.g. below:
- The default Username and Password is admin/admin. After accessing it, find the feature called Dsskeys, so you can start configuring the Park and Picking Bay on your Handset.
You are all set with your Dsskey on your Handset configuration. Now, learn how to park and retrieve calls.
How to Park and Retrieve calls - Available Bay
In the example below the call is parked online Key6 using the DTMF mode. The parked call is extracted from the parking bay using the line1 Presence (BLF).
In the example below we have configured line Key5 as a BLF or presence key to indicate that a call has been parked into Bay 701 (*1+parking space).
- To park the call, select TRANSFER *07. (NB – the Parking Attendant will confirm your parking slot).
- To retrieve the call from the Bay, dial *1 followed by the bay number e.g. *1701.ca
